My name is Mari Besancenez. I am a wife and mother of four children. I have two boys and two
girls ranging in ages from a year and a halp to 16 years old. We also have two dogs. I have a happy
but busy family life. After my third child was born, I decided to take up a hobby of my own. Since
I had always liked art as a child, I began to dabble with it by taking an adult basic drawing class at
my local community college. I enjoyed learning the drawing techniques so I purchased an amazing
learn to draw portraits book by Lee Hammond. Over the next few years, I practiced and saw
improvement with each portrait. All of my art is hand-drawn by studying photos of the subjects I
draw. Most of my drawings at that time were for friends and family.
In the past couple years I entered craft fairs and local church fund-raising auctions and continued to
draw for people in my community. I now participate in many shows each year and was excepted into
the juried section of the Best of Missouri Hands (Missouri Artisan Association). My portrait drawings
have now expanded into the fields of pets and houses. I am doing something that I love to do and for
that I am very happy and thankful.
